“Charlie wasn’t a complete pain in the ass, right? If he was, I will ground him,” you asked as you sat next to Jake at the bar. Coming to The Hard Deck after a long week of work with him had become a weekly tradition. There were other aviators around, but the undivided attention Jake gave you was never unappreciated. Jake continued to provide you with all the details on how Charlie was a little shit that deserved to go back to the dumpster you’d found him in as a kitten. You rolled your eyes and playfully shoved him, “Hey. That’s my son. I can threaten to put him back in the dumpster I found him in, but you absolutely can not.”

Jake rolled his eyes and quickly downed the last of his beer, “So, how was your vacation?”

You shrugged, “It was fine. Honestly, I was a little lonely without you.” your words were music to his ear. “My sisters never want to do shots with me or play pool or go hit on boys because they’re all married.” 

Jake laughed and nodded awkwardly, “When have we ever hit on boys together?” 

“You watch me hit on boys sometimes.” you challenged. Jake laughed again and conceded to your point.

“Want another round?” he asked, hoping you’d say yes. You shook your head and pulled $20 out of your bag. Jake shook his head and pulled his wallet from his pocket.

“I got it this time, beautiful,” Jake said, taking the money from your hand and putting it back in your purse. You groaned and reached for his wallet. Jake laughed, “You buy the six-pack for football this weekend, and we’ll call it even.” 

“Jake, this was my thank you for cat-sitting. Com’on.” you insisted, still none the wiser about how Jake had helped himself to that pair of underwear from your hamper. He shook his head again, and you gave up on paying for the man’s beer. “I’m going to the bathroom. I’ll be back.”

As you checked your makeup in the bathroom mirror, you saw a pair of girls walking in. The one on the left was a cute blonde, and the other was a redhead. You noticed the blonde on the verge of tears, and her friend tried to comfort her, “Girl, he’s not worth it.” the redhead cooed. The blonde shook her head and rushed into the empty stall, “Diana- come on, we don’t cry over aviators!” the girl said outside the door. You weren’t trying to be nosey, but curiosity got the best of you. 

“Carly! He’s never said no to me!” Diana sobbed from behind the stall’s door. “He basically called me ugly!” 

You watched Carly roll her eyes from her reflection in the mirror as you pretended to fix your hair. You had no idea who they were referring to outside of him being an aviator who never says- it was Jake. The realization hit you like a ton of bricks. You grinned in Carly’s direction and awkwardly slipped out of the bathroom, hoping not to run into either of them again. As you walked out to the bar you saw Jack sitting at the bar, scrolling on his phone. Why would he turn down a girl? Especially one that was very much his type… you lost yourself in thought as you joined him back at the bar. “Ready to go?” Jake asked with a smile plastered on his face. There was a look on Jake’s face; you couldn’t tell what it was from, but you were wary of it. You nodded, and the two of you headed out to your cars. 

Jake walked you to your car, which coincidentally was parked a few down from his truck. As you went to unlock your car door, you dropped your keys. You let out an annoyed huff before bending down to pick them up. You didn’t realize the back of your shirt slid up to reveal the top band of your underwear to Jake… the prettiest shade of blue he’d ever seen. He swallowed hard and awkwardly said bye before quickly returning to his truck. His sudden departure confused you, but you shrugged off the behavior as Jake was just being Jake; sometimes, he was a weird guy.

Jake sped home and ran upstairs to his bedroom. As soon as he’d parked his truck in the driveway, he somehow unlocked his front door. He yanked open his bedside table drawer and felt like a halo of light came from beneath his most prized possession at the moment, that tiny dark red thong with the little bow on the front he’d been using as a masturbatory aid since he’d taken them from your bedroom the other week. Jake brought them to his nose and inhaled. The scent had subdued since his initial procurement, but he still picked up on undertones of what your pussy must have smelled like.

There was tension in the air at lunchtime. Since Jake had walked away from you this morning, you’d decided not to sit with him and Javy at lunch. Jake tried his hardest not to make eye contact as you huffed past your usual lunch table. Javy looked over his shoulder to watch you go sit with a group of women on the other side of the lunchroom. “What did you do to that girl?” Javy questioned, shooting Jake a dirty look. 

Jake sighed, “I did something stupid, and I’m embarrassed.”

“You’re embarrassed?” Javy asked in astonishment. Jake wasn’t the kind of guy to be embarrassed, so he must have done something horrible. “What did you do to that girl?” 

“I’m not confessing to shit, Coyote.” Jake challenged, “I just need to compose myself before I hang out with Y/N again.” 

Javy’s brow furrowed as he contemplated what Jake could have done to you, “Did you have a sex dream about her? No shame in that. Y/N’s pretty hot.” Jake rolled his eyes at the question. While he has had numerous sex dreams about you since stealing your panties, he’d never confess to it. “Then what’s goin’ on?” Javy laughed.

“I’m keeping it to myself,” Jake said, putting his hands up defensively.

You huffed as you walked up to Jake’s front door, frustrated by his behavior the past few days at work. He’d been ignoring you, and today was the final straw. Another air traffic controller in the communication tower had been trying to get into your pants for months. You pounded on Jake’s door, “Jake, open the door! I know you’re home!” you yelled. Your yelling brought Jake snapped him back to reality. He’d been sitting on his couch after work that night, ‘watching’ baseball alone and running the band of your panties through his fingers. He stuffed the panties in his back pocket before opening the door. 

“Hey…” he awkwardly greeted you when he saw you standing there with your hands on your hips. His eyes were drawn to the form-fitting running shorts you were wearing with an old, worn-in Navy shirt.

“Why are you being weird?” you said, pushing into his house. Jake sighed and closed the door before facing you again. He swallowed softly and waited for you to start berating him. “Did I do something?” he saw your brow furrow together as you asked; Jake shook his head, making you groan. “Talk to me, Jake! We don’t not talk to each other. You’re my best friend.” 

“Listen, Y/N, you didn’t do anything wrong- this is a me thing.” 

“Jake. I have to go to an adult kickball game because you weren’t there to tell Billy to fuck off. This isn’t just some you thing. What happened?” you demanded

Jake stared at the floor before reaching for his back pocket. He was really going to ruin your friendship. “Just don’t hate me…” he said softly before pulling the balled-up pair of panties from his pocket. He put his hand out and slowly opened his fist to reveal the panties he’d taken from your room. You stared at the material in his hand and were initially confused. When you realized what he was holding, you looked up at him quizzically. 

“Are those- why do you… What the fuck, Jake?” you asked, taking your panties from him. “Why are they… wet?” you feared the answer you’d receive, “NO! Don’t answer that question…”

“Y/N- I’m sorry. For what it’s worth, I'm sorry. I shouldn’t have taken them-”

You cut Jake off by touching his shoulder, “Please stop talking. Jake… this is a lot to take in. Um.. I’ll see you at work tomorrow.”

Drugs, Thugs and Pilot Kelson Hugs: Part 1

Summary: Takes place a few years after Highway, Pilot is in his late 20’s and slightly more mature, but only a smidge. You meet but feel like you’ve known him forever. What will your friendship become?

It was a Friday night when your life changed forever.

It wasn’t because of anything huge or noticeable to anyone else, no. Just a fleeting glance that changed it all.

You had finished a particularly stressful week at work, and you were looking forward to letting loose. Your friend Carly had invited you out for drinks with her and some of her friends, and you had practically bitten her hand off at the offer. You needed a drink, and it had been so long since you’d been out with friends.

You didn’t know any of Carly’s friends, but that was okay. You knew Carly and you enjoyed meeting new people, so you weren’t worried.

You got dressed in your favourite outfit and you felt confident when you checked yourself out in the mirror before swinging out the door.

The bar was busy and loud when you arrived at 8:30pm. You hadn’t expected a live band but it was a nice touch and the atmosphere was electric. You felt energised already and you hadn’t even ordered a drink yet. As you waited at the bar to be served, Carly snuck up behind you and tickled your sides.

“Hey!” You jumped, swinging around to glare at your friend. “Scared me!” You shouted over the loud music.

“Sorry!” She laughed, pulling you in for a hug. “I saw you walk in and just wanted to show you where we’re sitting!” She pointed to the far corner where a table of 5 sat, conversing and laughing over their drinks, some with cigarettes in hand.

“Thanks!” You smiled at her, “I’ll be over as soon as I get a drink. Hey, you want anything?” You offered. She shook her head pointing to the beer in her hand. You nodded and gave her a thumbs up as she walked back to the table.

About 10 minutes later, once you had been served, you made your way through the busy bar to the table of friends.

Carly hopped out of her chair and turned to the table to introduce you.

“Hey guys! This is my friend (Y/N)!” She put her arm around your shoulder.

“(Y/N), this is Jack, Mason, Porter, Cassie and Pilot.” She pointed to each person around the table, they all waived as their names were called.

“Pilot?” You questioned, unsure if you heard correctly over the noise. The spiky haired, blue eyed boy smiled at you over the table.

“That’s my name.” He said, pulling on his cigarette. You smiled. He had a beautiful smile and his eyes felt… familiar.

You nodded, pulling your eyes away from his.

You sat down next to Carly on the outer edge of the table, and spoke to Cassie who sat opposite you. The pretty brunette was friendly and easy to talk to and you quickly felt comfortable around her.

“Hey, I LOVE this song! Let’s go dance!” She exclaimed, pulling you and Carly to your feet as the rest waited at the table and watched.

You laughed and danced like an idiot with the two girls, letting the alcohol take over and the stress of the week disperse.

You felt eyes on you the whole time, but it was a busy bar, so you chalked it up to that and danced until your feet hurt.

You, Carly and Cassie made your way back to the table, tired and thirsty. You sat back down but this time next to the spiky haired Pilot. Cassie and Carly opting to go to the bar.

“Some moves.” Pilot joked.

“Jealous? Just because I can bust a move?” You joked back, smiling down at your drink.

“Yeah I guess I am, you give lessons?” He prodded you playfully with his elbow.

“Nah, gotta keep some secrets to myself.” You winked.

Pilot laughed, quirking an eyebrow. You were cute, and he felt like he knew you somehow. He didn’t recognise you from anywhere, but he felt like he knew you.

The rest of the night passed uneventfully, everyone making small talk and singing along to the live music.

Carly, Mason and Porter left, while Cassie and Jack argued about something trivial at the corner of the table.

You sat silently people watching as the crowd began to thin, the band now playing slower, softer songs as the night drew to a close.

You grabbed your coat and got up, about to say your goodbyes, when Pilot stood from his seat.

“Wait.” He said, taking your coat from you and draping it over the back of his chair. “I love this song. Dance with me before you go?” He asked, holding out a hand. The song was slow and romantic, you weren’t sure if it was appropriate but you felt yourself nodding as you took his hand gingerly and he pulled you onto the mostly empty dance floor.

His hand slipped around your waist as he pulled you a bit closer, his touch electric on your clothed skin, his other hand on yours as he led you in a clumsy waltz.

You laughed, this man had no idea how to dance. He spun you around and narrowly missed stepping on your feet, which only made you laugh more.

He pulled you back in, tighter this time.

“So… what’s the story with your name?” You asked, making light conversation as you both stepped side to side lazily.

“Well…” he breathed out a laugh, “My mom fucked an airline pilot. Didn’t catch his name, fell pregnant with me and let’s just say she hasn’t always been the most creative with names.”

“I dunno, it’s a pretty creative name if you ask me.” You smiled up at him, biting your lip.

Pilot stared down into your eyes silently, a ghost of a smile lingering on his lips.

“What?” You asked after a beat.

“Do I know you?” He asked.

“No, I haven’t lived in Vegas long.” You confirmed. “But you do seem… familiar.” You laughed.

“Yeah that’s what I thought, when you walked in. You feel like someone I know.” He confirmed.

“Feel?” You queried, quirking an eyebrow.

He was about to answer when Jack bumped into him drunkenly.

Pilot pulled away from you to face Jack.

“Hey I need you to settle an argument between me and Cassie.” He beckoned.

Pilot laughed and turned to you, “I guess I’d better go mediate.” He let go of your hand slowly and smiled at you, turning to follow Jack.

You smiled, realising your night had turned out better than expected. You wanted to leave it at that, with good memories of the evening, so you quietly grabbed your coat and left the bar.

After a few minutes Pilot had settled the debate between Jack and Cassie, and turned back around to find you. He wanted to continue your dance, and delve a little deeper into who you were, but you were long gone. His eyes scanned the room with disappointment, and his shoulders slumped as he threw his head back with a groan.

“C’mon. Let’s get out of here.”

The week went by slowly, filing paperwork and sending emails, it wasn’t exactly an exciting job. By Friday night you were ready to crawl up on your couch and watch movies until your brain dried up, but Carly called you and begged you to come over.

She was having friends over for drinks for Porter’s birthday, and part of you held the curious idea that maybe, just maybe, you’d see the spiky haired boy with the big blue eyes again.

You knocked on her door and waited, listening to the muffled laughing and noises from inside. Carly opened the door and pulled you inside, dancing and lip syncing to the song that blasted over her speakers.

“Well hello to you too.” You laughed, taking off your coat and hanging it up by the front door. Your eyes scanned the room, you could see Jack in the kitchen, sitting on the counter top speaking to Porter. Mason lay on the couch philosophising about something to Cassie and another girl you didn’t recognise. There were a few other randoms you didn’t know making conversation around the apartment but no sign of Pilot. You felt a little disappointed but kept a faux smile on your face as you greeted everyone, giving out hugs to the people you knew and introducing yourself to those you didn’t.

You decided to excuse yourself and went to the bathroom to freshen up. The door was locked so you waited, eventually knocking as whoever was in there was taking their sweet time.

“Yeah, I’ll be out in a minute!” you heard a familiar voice call out. You smiled.

The door flew open and Pilot’s eyes went wide as he smiled, high as a kite, smoke billowing out around him.

“Hey, it’s you.” He smiled, eyes heavy.

You wrinkled your nose at the smell of weed, smiling at him. “Didn’t think you were here.” You laughed softly.

“I uh… wasn’t gonna come, but we didn’t get to finish our conversation last week.”

“Oh, so you came here just for me?” You teased. Pushing past him to get into the smokey bathroom. Pilot turned around to watch you and leaned against the door frame, zipping the collar of his fleece all the way up over his chin and putting his hands in his pockets, something you’d come to realise was his tell when he was high.

You looked in the mirror and pretended to fix your hair while you felt his eyes on you. You glanced over at him with a glint in your eyes.

“What?” You asked, smirking at him.

“Nothing.” He laughed, looking away.

“You’re so high.” You laughed. He nodded, walking slowly back into the bathroom with a dumb smirk on his face, his hair sticking up on all ends. You liked it.

“Ok you’re gonna need to say or do something so that I know you’re not going to whiteout on me.” You joked as he stood over you silently.

“We didn’t get to finish our dance.” He reminded you, taking your hands in his and draping one over his shoulder.

“Here? In the bathroom?” You questioned. Pilot nodded. You swayed together silently, listening to the music and laughter that blared from the next room. His big blue eyes, half lidded, never once leaving yours.

This was going to be a weird, weird friendship.

Scooby Doo x Goosebumps

This better be some universal foreshadowing that we're getting a Scooby and Goosebumps crossover or I'll be so mad!

This week while I was in Barnes & Nobles I came across this and almost cried from joy. I'm a huge fan of Scooby- Doo and Goosebumps so this was just perfection. I know this was most likely a setup from leftover Halloween stuff, but I love it (also give the person a raise for the idea)!

Headcanon Time/ Scooby Doo x Goosebumps AU:

The Mystery INC is called by an anonymous benefactor to help find some missing people (mainly children) in a small town.

The gang jump to it since they love mysterious, but they love helping people more.

Once they arrive in the small town they begin investigating and hear strange stories around town for example: an evil dummy coming to life, a witch who grants terrible wishes, haunted mask that attach to people and turn them evil, cameras that predict omens, and so on.

At first the gang thinks it's another hoax and real estate plot, but the stories sound eerily familiar like something out of a 1980's -90's children horror book series.

The townsfolk don't trust Scooby - Doo due to his abilities to do things a normal dog can't possible do: speak human language, cook, dance, the works. This hurts Scooby and makes him start doubting himself (how dare you townspeople!).

The gang then investigate a writer who half the town think is responsible due to the kidnappings are similar to the horror novels he writes. When they meet the writer it's none other than *drumroll* R.L. Stine (who plays himself in the movie fanfic).

Mystery Inc: It's famous children's horror writer, R.L. Stine!

At first Velma is excited to meet the famous R.L.Stine, but after her encounter with Ben Ravencroft, she fears he'll be the same as Ben. Until -

R.L. Stine: So, you've met Mr. Ravencroft. How was he?

Velma: (Gloomy) I was excited to finally meet one of my favorite writers. Only to be disappointed when he turned out to be evil.

R.L. Stine: Yep! I met him before, he's a huge jerk! You should've met Stephen King aka the 'Adult horror writer of Goosebumps'.

Velma: *Perks up*

R.L. Stine reveals that he called them, and he is the cause of what is going on due to bunch of works he never finished/ can't find the ending for a current story from his old typewriter he had since he was nine, and if he can't come up with an ending soon things will get worse. The gang don't believe him and think all the rumors around town about him being the kidnapper are getting to him. The gang stays with R.L. Stine's place during the investigation and Scooby and Shaggy come across certain items from the Goosebumps, Fear Street, The Nightmare Room, and The Haunting Hour franchise. Scooby and Shaggy come across Slappy in his inactive state and unknowingly read his spell.

The next day Stine's home is trashed with a message in blood (or ketchup) reading: SLAPPY'S BACK!

Slappy (played by Jack Black or Cal Dodd) plans to possess Stein to bring a new era of horror to the world. He's been bringing all the monster/villains to life and the real world and framing Stine for the crimes.

Slappy: Hello papa, I'm back!

R.L. Stine: Slappy!

Slappy: That's right. Ooh! I see you got some friends and their dog.

Scooby: Rog rhere?

Shaggy: Check it out Scoob, the puppet really is haunted.

Daphne: Yeah, I guess we were due an evil dummy sooner or later.

Slappy: (Flabbergasted) W-what? You're not scared of me?

Fred: No offense Mr. Slappy, but we've dealt with real monsters before.

Velma: Zombies, cat-people cultist, witch's ghost, aliens, virus monsters, the list goes on and on.

Shaggy: Me and Scooby here even taught at a monster school once.

Scooby: Reah!

Slappy: Wow! I just met you people and I hate you already.

The gang and Stine recruit now adults Carly Beth, Danny Anderson, Hannah Fairchild (ghost child), and a few others to help end Slappy's reign.

There's an epic battle and the find a way to defeat Slappy and return everything to normal. R.L. Stein and the gang are cleared of all charges and are now heroes to the town!

It wouldn't be Goosebumps without a twist - Slappy survives and with his own typewriter he begins writing his own series. His first book is of the original Goosebumps series with an image of Mystery Inc. and R.L. Stine in the Mystery Machine with looks of terror on their faces.

My Favorite Ships from each Yu-Gi-Oh Series!

Yu-Gi Oh: Prideshipping (Atem X Kaiba)

Funny thing about prideshipping, I did not ship it until I read the manga and watched Dark Side of Dimensions which is an official continuation of the manga. That won me over by showing how tied Seto's narrative is to Atem. If you travel to the afterlife to duel your rival, you're not rivals anymore, you're just gay.

My favorite ships are the ones with the potential to destroy each other, or save each other. Atem and Kaiba manage to do both. Kaiba has an obsessive desire from his first loss against Atem to destroy him and that manifests in Death T his lowest point. Atem however, chooses to spare Kaiba by just shattering his heart to give him the chance to put the pieces back together. That's development for Atem too, because he had been a low key serial killer by that point, but instead of revenge he's learned empathy.

Kaiba at Duelist Kingdom tempts Atem into killing him just to win a game, but it's not Atem who stops Yugi has to stop him. It's a show how scarily similar the two can be.

When Atem helps save Mokuba their relationship shifts in Battle City. In their final duel, Atem saves Kaiba from destruction one final time when he tells him the past isn't something you should completely destroy. Atems so important to Kaiba that he saved Kaiba from his worst impulses multiple times and Kaibas rivalry with Atem represents a desperate attempt to stand as equals with them.

GX: Soulshipping (Judai x Yubel)

Speaking of destroying each other and saving each other, Yubel and Judai completely tear each other apart only to both rebuild each other from scratch into something new.

Kaiba and Atem good and all, but Atem is just always the moral support to Kaiba. I prefer it when both members are just as bad as the other. When they drag each other down. Hand in unlovable hand.

Yubel and Judai, or "I can make him worse."

What makes Yubel and Judai my favorite ship of the franchise is the beautiful symmetry of their journeys, and how they separate, get lost, and find their way back to each other. They share the same soul, no Yubel is Judai's soul.

The entirety of season 3 is thematically about empathy. What people can do when they're alone and in pain. The way people can be saved by the act of sympathy and showing they're not alone. How a show of kindness goes much further than a quick and easy act of cruelty, Jim's action to save Judai inspires Austin to be better and overcome his fear, Austin's sacrifice breaks Judai from his downward spiral, all leading up to Judai making the choice to save Yubel. There's a much simpler narrative that exists where Judai just puts Yubel down like a mad dog, and maybe Judai feels a little pity that they couldn't reach Yubel before they went past the point of no return. However, Yu-Gi-Oh takes the more complex and nuanced route with empathizing with a victim like Yubel who's messy and gone on to hurt others. Judai and Yubel are very much like, they drag each other down, and keep each other afloat. They do both. It's like you're not allowed to die to and disappear to escape your guilt and neither am I. They're crucial to each other's atonement once they became inseparable tied together.

For all the pain they cause each other though, there's something beautiful about Yubel who as Judai's shadow representing all his worst traits is so, so in love with him. Yubel is blatantly aware of what a flawed person Judai is, and unconditionally in love with that mess of a person. It's kind of like an expression of accepting and being loved for the worst parts of yourself for both of them.

5DS: Scoopshipping (Jack x Carly)

Carly and Jack is the embodiment of "We could die together, but what if he lived together?" There's so much romantic drama wrung out of these two that you forget you're watching a shonen anime.

Carly is so fundamental to Jack's development that I joke to Comun that the reason Jack experiences so much character regression in Season 2 is because he needs his wife Carly around.

There's just something about a chance encounter with someone that Jack under most circumstances would have overlooked is what uplifts Jack at his lowest point. How Jack turns from a Kaiba archetype from someone who works the rest of the series trying to make up with his friends. The way that as Carlys laying there dying her only thoughts are that she wants to see Jack again one final time, and sells her soul for the chance. It's just the way that Jack when facing Carly duels to save her because he knows deep in his heart that Carly isn't a cruel person, and he's right and he reaches her. How when he realizes he has to kill her to stop her he doesn't intend on living past it. It's just the way that Carly is the one who ends the duel because she's already dead and she doesn't want Jack dying for her sake. As much as she wants to be together with Jack even in death, Carly wants to see Jack happy, because it makes her happy to see him trying his best, because his happiness is her happiness

It's just the way they both come back and get the chance to try again.

Its just all the little Jack and Carly things.

Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal: Foilshipping (Yuma x Vector)

I tried to like Astral and Yuma but I need a little bit of zest. The angst of one enemy desperately trying to kill, and the other desperately trying to save adds that extra spice.

As I said Prideshipping is good, but as much as I love when love redeems and saves you from your worst self how about when love doesn't redeem?

Yuma is the sweetest of cinnamon roles, but that means Jack and Shit to Vector. Yuma thinking it's his job to redeem vector and reach out a helping hand is the biggest thorn in Vector's side.

It's convenient that it's called Foilshipping, because Yuma is so in love with the person they thought Vector to be, projected themselves onto Rei Nagisa, assigned themselves to the role of protector they can't accept who Vector really is. They keep trying to see some good. Yuma tries to see themselves in Vector and it is just not there.

Vector's the ultimate challenge of Yuma's pacifist philosophy, and Yuma fails and falls flat on his face on multiple occasions. Not only that but Vector trolls him too - occasionally pretending there's something redeemable there only to flip the trap card and go PSYCHE! It's funny every single time.

If Judai's arc is about failing multiple times and having a complete breakdown until they flip, Yuma's arc is about failing multiple times, having breakdowns and then staying true to themselves. After never once succesfully reaching Vector, Vector self destructs and is being dragged to his death by Don Thousand and decides to do a taking you with me to Yuma. Yuma's only reaction is "Sure, I'll die with you" and it's the most romantic thing ever.

Then vector's like gross and throws him away.

Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V: Mockingbirdshipping (Shun x Dennis)

This is a ship that I love more for it's potential then anything else (like most things in Arc-V). Their setup is great, Dennis the spy that infiltrated Shun's world, and stole his sister away from him ends up infiltrating the Lancers.

Shun who spends 90% of Arc-V hungry for revenge has the person responsible for his sister's disappearance, right next to him and in spite of his suspicions (Shun is suspicious of everyone) he's forced to work with him. When they're working together they make a great team too.

Dennis or as I call him the only character that has a finished arc in Arc-V is aware that he's a bad person, that he's going to destroy the lancer's the same way he destroyed Shun's sister. He's also a genuinely friendly guy, and it's actually precisely the guilt and self-awareness of what a bad person he is that stops him from trying to change.

The setup was great, and the duel where Shun forces Dennis to use his Antique Gear deck is my favorite duel in all of Arc-V. The setup was all there, but the more interesting version is where Shun doesn't get a satisfying revenge and they're still forced to work together - and there is a version of that story where that happens but it's IV and Shark in Zexal.

Yu-Gi-Oh Vrains: AiBallshipping (Ai x Yusaku)

Everyone compares them to Soulshipping and they're right for that. They both kill half of the main character's friends in the third season. They both steal a sexy body to try to impress the protagonist. They're both characters themed around the concept of "love." They both serve as the Jungian shadow to their main protagonist.

They both intentionally inflict pain on the protagonist out of love rather than hate.

However, the way they are different is more interesting to me. Yubel and Judai start their season separated with Yubel absent the first whole seasons. They start with their relationship in the worst place possible and eventually reunite and improve.

Yusaku and Ai start united. Ai literally came from Yusaku. From the first episode they're always together. Even when Ai attempts to leave twice he always comes back. After two seasons of their relationship slowly growing however, Ai turns into the third season antagonist.

Ai seems more selfless than Yubel in their motivations. After all, Yubel acts out of a desire to monopolize Judai. Yubel sees everything and everyone as merely tools to getting to Judai, and will hurt them to get what they want. Yubel forces Judai through a complete mental breakdown to drag them down to the same level, all because of Yubel's selfish desire to not be alone.

Ai on the other hand is sacrificing themselves. When they attack Playmaker's friends, it's just playing the villain to provoke Playmaker to stop them. Ai is motivated by a simulation that told a future where Playmaker dies protecting them, and if the choice is between Playmaker and themselves then they'll choose Playmaker. It does seem like it's all for Playmakers sake, especially since Yubel would never choose a world where they can't be together with Judai.

However, Ai takes away Yusaku's choice in this scenario which Yusaku hates the most. Forcing your best friend to murder you in a supposed "sacrifice" for their sake is a pretty messed up scenario. Yubel and Judai reunite, while Ai and Playmaker suffer from a tragic separation, and since Ai is Playmaker's shadow he can't actually live without him the way Ai assumes. The epilogue we get is playmaker abandoning his real life to deep dive into the net for the faint hope of getting Ai back. As stated above if Ai knew the pain of losing all his friends, then he should have known that forcing Yusaku to kill his friend would hurt him in the worst pay possible - but he did it anyway because he can't help being yubel coded.
